🎹 I’ve always loved a good brand story so when I received Waqas's deep dive on Teenage Engineering, I felt excited right away. Why Teenage Engineering is so Cool. This is exactly the type of opinionated company and brand we'd like to see more of. Which makes me wonder: why are there so few in the world? How can we empower more people to launch weirder and cooler things?

🧱 On the opposite side of the spectrum comes the discussion around the death of Supreme -recently bought from VF Corporation by EssilorLuxottica- and the whole Hypebeast culture. That video below 👇 is interesting even though I regret any mention of skateboarding and the relationship between the skate community and this culture. Many of the most prominent figures of this movement were skateboarders themselves -incl. Bobby from the Hundreds or Virgil Abloh himself- and Supreme itself just started as a local skateshop in Manhattan back in 1994.

🌪 These ‘reflections on identity’ by Nick are really worth a read: the multitudes of self. I found this whole idea of ‘who am I’ fascinating. A few years ago I even wrote a little something on the Objet Journal titled Me, myself and... my other self.

👯 Making community with people already there is just obvious and produces so much joy. I loved the case studies highlighted by Savannah in this piece -including her own neighborhood in North Boulder; which is an amazing place: Building neighborhood communities.

🚗 Talking about neighborhood and community, you know what’s the opposite of that? I agree so much with Hamilton, the car-centric age of development is one long mistake. I even think that the car-centric culture will just be a blip in the long arc of urbanism. Cars have fucked up this country bad.

🏆 Do you consider yourself successful? What does success mean exactly? I see so many people around me chasing ‘success’ and yet, they spent close to zero time defining it in the first place. Kevin’s view on success -and its measure- is wise and resonated a lot.

A much better gauge of success, for me, is one that's fluid. I tend to ask myself am I successful right now? And that could be in anything. Recently, my successes have revolved around renovating one of the stables for the chickens, and maintaining our vegetable patch.

💰 This is the last TV show we’ve watched and we’ve been very pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend it.
